Devotional 6/27

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me along the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Psalm 23:2-3

Satan can try to destroy you, but God will restore you.

The Psalmist David says, He will restore my soul and lead me in His path. In other words God is saying, I will restore you and give you rest. I know I have sent judgement against you, but I will give you rest: He will help us carry our burdens, He will be the answer to our worries and He will restrengthen us. Rest in Him, He will do His work in you and your life.

God wants to restore our souls, by leading us in His will. His will is good, perfect and pleasing. It is good for us, it is in perfect harmony to our character and capacity, and it pleases us and Him!

Israel was not a great nation with a mighty army of chariots and horses: this is why God called them His own. The people of Israel would seek God when they were in trouble, and once He came with deliverance and healing of the land, then they would end up getting lost again. God knew they would, but He still wanted to use them to glorify His name. The only way He could send a message to the world, was by first restoring them (Joel 2:25). Everything that has been lost can be restored back to us.

In Jeremiah 30, the Lord says I will restore you, I will heal your wounds because they considered Israel, outcasts. Maybe you were never called an outcast, like Israel, but maybe you were judged, accused or under appreciated by others: guess what, God is for you! God knows your capacity and potential: He says those who know their God, should do great exploits!

Whatever situation you find yourself in, remember to rest in God is to be restored. He is ready and willing to mend our broken hearts, renew our minds and open our eyes to perceive His will and goodness. God says He will restore what you have lost.

Let’s pray:

Thank you for your promises Lord God. Thank you for reminding us that you are the God of restoration. I pray these promises come to pass as you have declared, be it unto us. In Jesus name, Amen.
