Many times they have persecuted me from my youth up; yet they have not prevailed against me. Psalm 129:2
Give yourself permission to bloom unapologetically.
When a tree grows, it first makes itself strong in the ground: it takes root. In order for it to grow up to the sky it knows it must be rooted. It makes itself strong and firm. Trees are designed to stand, and to defy the laws of nature. The tree knows that we wait for its oxygen and food, as do animals too. It does all to stand against the harsh winds, the blazing sun, the earthquakes.
We are like trees, so I encourage you to keep growing beautiful people. We are going to see the harvest of making it through hard times, and still moving forward! We haven’t been destroyed, because we are rooted in faith. We are afflicted on every side but we are not destroyed. We may have been wounded, but we are not ones to give up.
We don’t have to be cold or austere with the people who have hurt, offended or abandoned us. We can embrace the promises of God into our lives by forgiving people, and forgiving ourselves. We don’t have to be upset about the winds and the storms of life, we can increase our sense of self efficacy: we can handle any and all situations which come our way. We can trust that God is for us and not against us, if He allows it: He believes in our perseverance. We don’t have to be angry with God or be afraid of God, He created us and wants to glorify Himself in our lives.
Let’s pray: Thank you Lord Jesus for growth. For believing in us when we couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for being consistent with us. I ask you help each of us to experiment with a new level of faith in you. Holy Spirit may you cultivate our trust in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
