What seeds are you planting?

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Galatians 6:7

Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.

Robert Louis Stevenson

It is not always God who judges our actions: we reap what we’ve sown.

Our lives look like what we have sown:

  • Spending more than you make (or save) = debt, scarcity, lack, etc.
  • Bad eating and sleeping habits = illness, low energy, unfocus, etc.
  • Unforgiveness = broken relationships, restlessness, anger, etc.

When a seed is planted, it reaps the fruit thereof. Apple seed equals apple tree. When we dislike what our lives look like, we tend to call it an attack or a punishment from the hand of God. But it is usually a consequence from what we have sown. It’s a law of a nature, as it is a spiritual law: we give, so we shall receive: we steal, we will suffer loss: we hate, we end up lonely: we love, we make friends. We may not have control of all that happens in our lives, but we can change what our lives look like.

How do we do we start changing what our lives look like? By studying the word of God, and seeking the Lord through prayer. There is a well of wisdom, power and strength in the Holy Spirit for us to draw from. We can use His word as principles to live by, and in wisdom make decisions. We have the choice to yield our will to His, or do our own thing. All that the Lord calls us to do by His Spirit and in His word is doable.

We have our friend and comforter the Holy Spirit. He was sent to help us do life Gods way!

Father God, help us to do better. Help us to know your will, to discern your ways and see what you want us to see. I pray for strength and courage so that I can plant good seeds, so that I could good things in my life! In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
