Serve God, not people

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13

A ministry gives us the opportunity to establish roots.

Sunday Adelaja

We belong to Christ, not to a physical church. But it is good to be planted in a church because we develop skills and bear much fruit.
There is a lot of work to be done for the kingdom of Christ, and some of that work is within the church community. The Lord constituted the fivefold ministry to build up the saints to become like Christ. The Lord has many callings for us, but His purpose is that we glorify Him in all that we do as long as He remains first ministry in our lives.
The purpose of serving within the church is to build the body of Christ. Serving God does not have to start with a big ministry, it is simply a place for us to develop responsibility and commitment to the things of God. It is like getting a job, we learn skills and are inclined to grow and flourish where we fit. We are all part of the body of Christ, and just as a body has many functions; the body of Christ has different members for different functions.
The bible says that there is a lot of work to be done, but that laborers are few (Luke 10:2); may we be those people willing to be used of God!
Let’s pray:
Thank you father God for your grace and mercy: we praise you for choosing us to be your chosen people. I pray you help us use our gifts and talents for the equipping of saints and salvation of lost souls. May we be used by you and not by men. In Jesus name, Amen.
