Hardships

Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong. Hebrews 5:14

Hardships often prepare ordinary people for extraordinary destiny.

CS Lewis

The Lord is always moving and He exceeds what people may say they can or will do. He can take us to places we’ve never dreamed of but first He has to take us out of our comfort zones.

Most people feel secure when they are familiar with their surroundings, and there are others who get bored with familiarity. The scriptures say that we should jump into the deep, we should eat meat and no longer feed on milk as babes do. Paul tells Timothy in his first letter, “train yourself for godliness“. How do we do this?

We challenge ourselves as athletes train and exercise to win their boxing or wrestling matches. Muscles can only grow through resistance, our faith and character also grows through hardship. We can’t be comfortable in shallow waters, so the Lord puts in hard situations so that we need Him through the process. For instance He may put us in a dry place so that we thirst for more. This doesn’t mean that we will not be fruitful in the dry place. It’s just that in order for us to thirst for more, He has to interrupt our lives.

Embrace your hardships, God is using them to train you!

Let’s pray:

Thank you Lord Jesus for strengthening us. Thank you for giving us the will and pleasure to do your will. I pray for those who may be going through a struggle or challenge, may you complete the work you started in this season. May you give them the strength to move forward. In Jesus name, Amen.
