So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isaiah 55:11
The world changes, circumstances change, we change but God’s word never changes.
Abraham the father of faith was promised a son, by God. Sarah used logic and thought, I’m past child bearing age. She was right, she was in her 70’s and Abraham was in his early 90’s; but is there anything too hard for God?
Sarah told Abraham to lay with her Egyptian mistress Hagar. As we read the story we can believe one of two things: this child could be the promise or they messed up God’s plan. Funny thing is that God came a second time and repeated his word.
This time Sarah laughed but some time later she conceived and bore a child. Gods word comes back with a return! His word makes things happen especially when it’s doable for Him.
Who causes conception? God. Who said let there be light and it was so? God. If God said your situation will turn around, God will supernaturally do it. If He promised your family would be saved, He will do it. If God said He will destroy your enemies and you won’t see them anymore, He will do it!
We can delay the promises of God, and yes some of them are conditional, but when we leave it up to God: He will do it. Take Him at His word: if He said it, that settles it.
Father God, you are not man or son of man, you don’t lie and you don’t repent. You are faithful, even when we are not. You are unchangeable, even when we are changeable. I pray for you remind us of the words you have spoken over us, and give us faith to receive it is so. May we find rest in your power, might and character. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
