Shield of love

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. For you bless the godly, O Lord; you surround them with your shield of love. ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭5:11-12‬

One of the greatest evidences of God’s love to those that love him is, to send them afflictions, with grace to bear them.
John Wesley

The Love of God is consistent, accepting, supportive and active. The love of God shields us, and quiets us (Zeph. 3:17).

The love God has for you and me is not average. When people love they want things in return, but God loves us whether we choose Him or not. He demonstrates His love for us in that even when we are undeserving, rebellious, proud or even unbelieving… He still chooses to be loving and kind to us.

There may be some things that God allows or orchestrates where we are tempted to question His logic. But I heard a saying a few weeks ago and it stuck with me: people’s rejection is God’s protection. It is evident that the adversity we encounter, the changes, the setbacks, the failures and all the in between, were simply God’s way of redirecting us.

Matthew Henry said, many are the troubles of the righteous, but they may rejoice in God’s love. We may never fully understand how God loves, but our best bet is to bask in His love like a baby relaxes when wrapped in their parents arms.

Let’s pray:

Father God thank you giving and supporting us with your love. Thank you for filling the voids and taking away the shame. I pray today for everyone to experience your love, may your presence engulf them. May you give them visions and dreams where they may be able to perceive and receive your love. May we all walk with the conviction of your presence and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
