We have a choice

Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians‬ ‭5:17‬ ‭

As we empty ourselves, God will fill us.

The will of God should be a big concern to us, as it is to God. We cannot see down the road, but God can. We can choose the will of God or our own will, either one will work out for good but ultimately the will of God is good, perfect and pleasing.

The bible doesn’t say much about doing our own will, but Jesus considers those who do the will of the Father as His own family. We also receive a great teaching concerning the bigger picture, when we acknowledge that Jesus Christ chose the will of the Father to give us eternal life. Jesus chose to do the will of God and not His own will in order to ransom the life of many. We too can receive hope that in denying our will, we will ransom the life of many.

When we choose outside of the revealed will of God (word of God), we will grieve the spirit of God. We won’t lose our salvation, but we will make the spirit sad. Ephesians 4:30 warns us to avoid grieving the Holy Spirit with our choices. Most times we feel sad, simply because we have saddened the Spirit! We can grieve Him by being ungrateful, lying, slandering, sowing discord, yoking to an unbeliever and many other things we do, which are contrary to the word of God.

Can you trust Him to lay aside your plans and desires and exchange them for His will?

Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus, today I ask you to reset our relationships. I pray for wisdom and strength. I pray that you would bring us relationships that would help and support us; people we can do life with. I pray you help us discern what is not good for us and help us release what is not convenient for us. May you help us not become slaves to anything, whether a habit, a person or a feeling. I pray you reveal your will for our lives everyday and give us the will and the pleasure to go after it. In Jesus name, Amen.
