Moving Forward

Because of this, I always try to maintain a clear conscience before God and all people. Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭24:16‬ ‭‬‬

You have to have enough faith to believe that was lays in front of you is greater than anything you’ve left behind.

Paul teaches us that we must have integrity and a clear conscience.

There are things we may experience which don’t seem to make sense, don’t seem fair and maybe downright questionable. Loss, hope deferred or extended periods of waiting on God, can cause us to resent the Lord. Experiencing miscarriage after another, failed relationships, financial struggles or enduring sickness for long can harden our hearts if we are not careful. We must guard our hearts at all times. We guard our hearts by releasing offense.

Offense:

  • An illegal act;
  • Annoyance or resentment brought about by a perceived insult to or disregard for oneself or one’s standards or principles;
  • The action of attacking someone or something.

We may deny that we’ve ever been offended by God, but it happens. We must release/forgive God for not meeting our expectations, for delaying, for His silence, and/or for trials He allows in our lives. We must forgive others for not meeting our expectations, being inconsistent, inconsiderate, offensive or abusive. And lastly, we must also forgive ourselves, because in the rush of life we experience situations which test our integrity or grit. We may lie, hide the truth, go against what is morally right and disappoint ourselves. We must extend mercy and love to ourselves, because once we do we take ourselves out of the judgement seat and push condemnation out of our lives! If we cannot have mercy and love towards ourselves, we will not receive it from God much less extend to others.

Forgiveness is not earned, it is not an emotion: it is a choice. The lack of forgiveness builds walls of bitterness, judgement and guilt between others, God and ourselves. But when we forgive we make room for love and peace to come into our lives. Refusing to forgive will stunt our spiritual and emotional growth. Refusing to forgive blocks your prayers!

Let’s pray:

Father God, Thank you for teaching us to love. Thank you for forgiving us and enabling us to receive your love. I pray for all your sons and daughters, may you give them strength and wisdom to forgive. I pray your peace overpowers their days and fills their hearts. In Jesus name, Amen.
