Devotional 7/12

But He knows the way I take; When He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold. Job 23:10

It is a glorious thing to know that your Father God makes no mistakes in directing or permitting that which crosses the path of your life. It is our glory to trust Him, no matter what.

Joni Eareckson Tada

The book of Job is infamous for us: it tells us about the mystery of God which we may not understand on this side of heaven. He allowed Satan to attack Job, as a way of testing Job’s faith and trust in God. Job declared, God knows my heart, He knows my end and my beginning; when I am tested I will come forth as gold. Gold is tested by fire: it is purified.

It’s safe to say that we don’t desire to be accountable to anybody. It is wise to seek the counsel of others (Prov. 11:14), but more importantly to seek God for direction. God knows the end from the beginning, He sees what is around the corner, or a few months away, while we can only imagine what could be. Jon’s friends judged him for losing his crops, his health and his children. They did not understand that God was purifying Job’s character. In ways only He can understand God changes us from the inside out.

The Lord knows us: He created us. And the things He allows are for our benefit. God is not absent to your struggles or tears, He is with you through it all. He is only purifying you through each process. He may want to show you a new facet of His nature. He may want to make you stronger in love, reverence or stewardship (amongst many other things). Or He May simply want to humble you from arrogance, hate, blame, etc.

The Lord God considers your steps. He knows the way you will take. He sees you. God is with you and He knows what you are going through. Remember this process has an expiration date! Will you choose to trust Him?

Let’s pray:

Father God, I thank you for reminding us that you are with us even through the struggles and the loss. Thank you for pruning us, refining us and even remolding is to who you desire us to be. Thank you for making us vessels of honor. I pray for each person going through a hard time: may you visit them and show them that you are present with them even in their pain. I pray for strength and hope in Jesus name, Amen.

Devotional 6/15

But when the Spirit of Truth comes He will guide you into all the Truth, He will not speak on His own accord, but only what He hears and He will tell you what is to come. John 16:13

I don’t believe in accidents, but I do believe in divine appointments.

Thank you Lord for divine appointments and partnerships.

I pray you help us recognize the purpose of each person in our lives. May we gracefully exit relationships which drain us or which serve no purpose Jesus. I pray you give us grace when speaking, give us the right words to communicate whether in negotiations, confrontation and those conversations on the job. I pray that our lights would shine so bright, that negativity could not come near us.

Thank you for leading ya through the doors you have specifically for us. I pray for those waiting for open doors to be encouraged, hopeful and in right standing with you despite it all.

I also pray for those who need to make decisions, may you endow them with wisdom, strategy and grace to do so. May you bless our finances, and break all curses in our lives concerning money. And may we be great stewards of all that you place in our hands. Thank you Lord God.

In Jesus name, Amen.

Devotional 6/5

No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. Romans 8:37

Negative emotions like loneliness, envy and guilt have an important role to play in a happy life. They’re big, flashing signs that something needs to change.

Gretchen Rubin

The word of God tells us that we are overcomers but what exactly are we overcoming?

We are overcoming sin which swells in us, the influence of the world and the shrewdness of Satan. We are overcoming the old nature, the old habits and all that influences. For the most part what needs to be done is to rest and renew our minds according to scripture.

All of us have experienced rejection in life, and I am being intentional when saying ALL of us. Rejection is the enemy’s tactic to destroy our relationship with God and with ourselves: all of life’s issues and wrong self-perceptions stem from rejection. In our youth, we internalize experiences and other people’s projections of us. It is as adults, where we act out on the lies Satan has planted in our hearts. My favorite scripture concerning deliverance is Matthew 15:13, where Jesus tells the Pharisees that God, our father, will uproot all that the enemy has planted.

The Holy Spirit of God can deal with the foundation of our erroneous beliefs, when we choose faith over each individual belief. Before implanting new beliefs, we must till the soil of our hearts, so that the new beliefs can take root! If you’ve ever uprooted a plant, or a beam from the under the ground- you can correlate this with destabilizing the foundation of wrong thinking in your mind. Each scoop of dirt illustrates the way our minds begin to de-clutter, and make space for the Truth of God to take root. Memorizing or declaring scriptures does not guarantee transformation: we then have the ability to plant new beliefs, as we meditate, pray and take hold of scripture.

If we can agree with what God says about us, we are halfway through. God wants transformation for us, and we ought to stand in agreement with Him! There are some deliverances which occur in an instant, while others occur over time. The Lord loves to reveal Himself in whichever way He chooses to bring transformation.

Let’s pray:

Thank you Lord God, for your Spirit doing a divine work in us. You have given us the victory and we thank you for success in all areas of our lives. We give you glory and honor, you are good God. You mercy endures forever. Thank you for causing us to triumph! I pray you reveal these scriptures to your children in a profound and personal way. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Devotional 6/4

This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. Isaiah 48:17

Thank you Lord for always holding my hand.

It is the Lord who watches over us. He is El Roi, the God who sees us.

If we walk with Him, He is able to teach us and lead us in the way we should go. It’s probable that many of us at one point or another have questioned God. We have wondered, why God? Why me? What exactly are you up to? All the while God is in the driver seat waiting for us to calm down and accept His will.

For His own name’s sake He will lead us and guide us!

  • cause (a person or animal) to go with one by holding them by the hand, a halter, a rope, etc. while moving forward.
  • be a route or means of access to a particular place or in a particular direction.

I love God because of His character. He cares for us, for His own sake. In various scriptures He says, I will do this and that for my name’s sake. And it’s His way of reminding us, I love you and I will be here to help you with everything just so that My name would be glorified.

  • He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. (Ps. 23:3)
  • Then you will know that I am the LORD when I have dealt with you for My name’s sake, not according to your evil ways or according to your corrupt deeds, O house of Israel,” declares the Lord GOD. (Ezek. 20:44)
  • And yet for this I have caused thee to stand, so as to show thee My power, and for the sake of declaring My Name in all the earth; (Ex. 9:16)
  • For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people. (1Sam. 12:22)

If God’s intent is to glorify Himself, He is sure to lead us in the right path, in the right time, with the right people and using the correct resources. With God, we cannot fail.

It is only up to us to cooperate with God, and yield to His Spirit’s leading. Will you?

Let’s pray:

Thank you father God, for your attention to us. Thank you for all the details which are unknown to us. We declare to trust you, and we humble ourselves to be led of you. May you open our eyes and ears to see and hear, that which you want us to know. I thank you for doing these things in Jesus name, Amen!

Devotional 5/22

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us; Hebrews‬ ‭12:1‬

The fire of God only consumes what is on the altar.

Dharius Daniels

You’re in a race! Accept, embrace and love yourself. If you lose yourself, you will lose your way.

The Lord told us in Hebrews 12, that we should run our race with patience. We should be rooting for ourselves, not tripping over things. Is there something slowing you down?

The word says to lay aside every weight, which tells us that we are in control of doing so. It means we are to lay aside fear, guilt, shame, pride, condemnation, hypocrisy, arrogance, competition, offense, doubt, perfectionism, lust, self righteousness, gossip, and so on. Then the word speaks of “the sin“, meaning the sin we are all born into. Remember Adam and Eve: they passed on the symptoms of sin to every human being on this earth. We were born separated from God. We missed the mark without knowing there was a mark! We were all children of disobedience BUT GOD sent His son to redeem us from the curse of the law. We were dead in our sins and transgressions, but Jesus gave us a new nature.

Once Jesus comes into our hearts, we instantly become new creatures. We’re like seeds, the Spirit of God has planted His Spirit within us. By the Spirit we begin to grow roots, leaves and eventually bear fruit or bloom flowers. Through the power of the Holy Spirit we can lay every weight and the sin which causes us trouble, which constantly threatens us!

After telling us to run with endurance, and to let go of weights and the symptoms of sin; the following verse tells us, keep your eyes on Jesus! We can shift our focus from Jesus, to self: from what we do right to what we do wrong: or from being children of God to being who we were. We are no longer who we were!

With Jesus, we are new creatures. You can become a new creature when you accept that Christ died for you to be made new! Ask Jesus to become your Lord and Savior, and walk in the newness of life!

Let’s pray:

Father God, I thank you for the weights and symptoms of sin you reveal. Thank you for consuming them, and taking our burdens. I pray for those people who do not yet know you, may they recognize you as the God who makes them a new creature and gives them a new beginning. Reveal yourself to them, and help us all to lay aside every weight and all sin. In Jesus name, Amen.
