Devotional 7/11

You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11

Once you become aware that the main business that you are here for is to KNOW GOD, most of life’s problems fall into place of their own accord.

J. I Packer

You’s the man Holy Spirit! Thank you for coming to us, for being our companion, strength and helper.

We wouldn’t be able to do life without you Mr. Spirit. You teach us, you accompany and comfort us. You do so much for us, there are not enough words or time to express my gratitude or describe all you have done for us.

You are better than our earthly parents and loved ones, and you can bless us in much greater ways: we invite your blessings into our lives. We know that every good thing comes from you, the father of lights; and so I ask you to open the heavens and pour our blessing for your children. I pray you give us what our hearts desire, and increase our faith and convictions to know and follow your leading.

Thank you for changing and restoring us. For not withholding any good thing from us. Thank you for allowing us to experience your joy. Thank you for being for us, and not against us. Thank you for fighting for us. Thank you for giving what we ask for, and providing what we need Lord Jesus.

You did not spare Your Son for us, so we know that you won’t withhold anything else from us.

You Lord God are love, and you never fail!

In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Devotional 7/9

For what our human nature wants is opposed to what the Spirit wants, and what the Spirit wants is opposed to what our human nature wants. These two are enemies, and this means that you cannot do what you want to do. Galatians 5:17

Take heart if your soul feels like a battlefield. The sign, you are in dwelt by the Spirit is not that you don’t have bad desires, but that you are at war with them!

John Piper

God uses fire in different seasons to bring to light the attitudes and mindsets which do not complement His call. The greatest hindrance for any believer is to walk in the flesh, and not by the Spirit. We have options, we can walk in our emotions, in the flesh or in the Spirit.

  • Our emotions constantly change, and our heart is deceptive and wicked so it’s not dependable. The soul is the seat of your mind, will and emotions, and it manifests in the way we speak, and behave. As I’ve been saying for a few weeks now: it must be restored.
  • And the flesh is our natural self, the part of us where sin lives, the part that is completely separated from God. It’s mind is completely against the mind of the Spirit of God. And although the flesh seems reliable, it can never lead us into the quality of life which God wants us to have. The flesh will always try to meet its needs apart from God: its proud, self sufficient, in control, calculating and judgemental.
  • But to walk in the Spirit is to walk as the Lord would. The Spirit of God is loving, patient, peaceful, gentle, kind and self disciplined. The Spirit of God opens our eyes and ears to see and hear God: He leads us to do God’s will: He teaches us: comforts us, and looks to do the same for others.

We were all born into sin, and our old way of living influences us on a daily basis. Romans 7 explains what is going on inside of us on a daily basis: I see a different law at work in my body—a law that fights against the law which my mind approves of. It is the law of sin, which is at work in my body (23). Living from a carnal nature causes strife between the Spirit of God in us and grieves Him. Can we actually choose to walk in the Spirit? How?

Yes, if we know the word of God. To walk in the Spirit means that we humble ourselves,

  • to God’s control
  • to follow His lead,
  • to put His word before us as a light unto our path

We can do this!

Let’s pray:

Father God I come before you in the name of Jesus. I ask you to forgive us from walking in our emotions, by sight, in pride or any other carnal way which has saddened you or limited your flow in us. I pray you continue to strengthen us to walk how you desire for us to walk, may we discern and yield to your voice and impressions, and may we silence anything that may lead us in opposition to your will. In Jesus name, Amen.

Devotional 7/2

He restores my soul: he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Psalm 23:3

Let the lover of your soul, restore it.

The Lord God wants to restore our souls this season! He wants to do this, he doesn’t want us to do this by our own strength, remember we’re collaborators with Christ. The Lord wants to glorify Himself through us, and part of doing so, is to restore our souls.

One way of another we need some soul restoration! We all know what it is to feel less than, rejected, disappointed, heartbroken, ashamed, etc. Our souls are fragmented, they’re broken or damaged. Following Jesus, yet battling with bad habits, rebellion, ambivalence, disbelief, distress, the occult, etc. We’re all in need of deliverance (healing or liberation): we all have some kind of soul issue.

The soul is made up of three compartments: the mind, the will and the emotions. When God tells us to renew our minds (Eph. 4:30), He’s telling us to renovate our souls. The flesh and the Spirit both speak to the soul, and for the soul to adequately process the information given- it needs to be restored. God cares about our hearts and minds, He knows that a broken soul, means broken focus and no self-control.

  • If you ever find yourself making wrong decisions again and again, or even going in cycles- it means you have a soul issue (the mind).
  • If you find yourself angry, envious, bitterness, etc. consistently, or you struggle with being happy or joyful, then you have a soul issue (the heart).
  • If you find yourself in indecision, laziness, procrastination, or restlessness, then you have a soul issue (the will). The will tells of what we want and desire: where were going next, and what we will be doing. For example, “I’ll be going to the gym tonight”, “I’m going to pray when I wake up”, or “I will save money for vacation this summer”.

God will restore our souls, as He leads us in His paths of righteousness. God’s path is His will, which is good, perfect and pleasing. It is good and perfect for us (Rom. 12:2). It’s in perfect harmony and alignment with who we are, with our character, with our temperament and with our influence, our scope of influence. The will of God is pleasing to us, and to Himself. He knows what we like and dislike; it’s in perfect harmony with who God created us to be.

God, our father wants to restore your heart your vision, your dreams, your aspirations, your relationships. He wants to restore you this season: He wants to restore your soul.

Let’s pray:

Father God, I pray that it falls on fertile ground. I pray that you do a mighty work in each of us Lord God. May you heal the past, the present and even reach into the future and show us where we are headed. I pray that we could rest in you, that we could cry out to you Lord God. May we be sincere before you in prayer Jesus. I pray you would block the enemy from sabotage, and that we may flow with what you’re doing in this season my God. I pray you would open up the windows of heaven and make every crooked path straight. Lord God I pray Lord Jesus that you will give us discernment, wisdom and strategy to do all that you would want us to do in this season. May we be obedient. In Jesus name, Amen. Devotional 7/1

The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside the still waters. Psalm 23: 1-2

You have made us for Yourself God;
and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.

St. Augustine

God will lead us, He wants to lead us; He wants to take us to places where we can rest. He wants to give us water for our thirst. He wants to feed us, He wants us to just walk Him. But what stops us from walking with God? What stops us from fully surrendering to God? What stops us from running after our destiny… our purpose? It is sin that stops us.

Sin causes damage. When Adam and Eve sinned, they fell and gave away their authority, the glory and their connection with God. They gave away their perfect state of being: they were perfect! So because of Adam and Eve, we were born into sin. We were born into brokenness, into offense, into rejection and into heartbreak, into sickness, into disease and into mental problems.

We all need peace and calm. And God wants us to have that, He wants to lead us into His rest. We cannot just go and find peace, we can do so many things and not have that peace that surpasses all understanding in our souls. The scripture says that He will lead us to lie down in green pastures. He wants us to know that He’s got it all under control, He is working on it! He will lead us beside the still waters, which mean that there is rest, peace, joy and stability where He takes us. There is no stagnancy in God, there’s stability, consistency and calm.

Let’s pray:

Father God, I pray that you give us rest and give us a knowing of resting in you. May we know how to rest in you, and make it a daily habit. May we recognize when we are not resting in you Jesus. I pray you help each individual, stop worrying and cast their cares on you; may they release all the burdens which cause them stress, tension, heaviness and pain. I also pray that your children will forgive themselves and others. In Jesus name, Amen.

Devotional 6/23

The foundation that has already been built is Jesus Christ, and no one can build any other foundation. 1 Corinthians‬ ‭3:11‬

You must know that there are two spiritual kingdoms and the Lord hates spiritual contamination.

To be a Christian is to be a little Christ: How can we be like Christ without pure fellowship with the Holy Spirit and communion with the Father?

There are many spirits in this world, tapping into any other spirits other than the Spirit of God is impure and demonic. Mark 1: 20-24 tells of an man who was liberated from an unclean (impure) spirit. This man was in the synagogue, and from reference he was a law- keeping Jew (a believer)… yet he was impure.

Nowadays people are opening themselves up to impurity. They invite spirit guides into their lives, they channel dead celebrities for talent and power, they astral project and listen to familiar spirits to know their future (mediums for divination). Our God is a jealous God: Jesus will not share His temple with any other Spirit! This is all demonic. Demons torment! You must choose! If your Spirit is mixed with another belief system, another spirit and another teaching- then you are impure. In order to be guided by GOD, you must be filled with the Spirit of God.

Choose Christ. The word of God is the foundation and vertebrae of a Christian: make the Bible your road map. Make a continuous choice to deny your flesh, and to walk in the light of the scriptures. Find your way back to God through His word.

Repent from mixing God with false gods.
Renounce all New age spirits: kundalini, opening of chakras, spirit guides, chi power, crystal healings and sun worship practices.

Let’s pray:

Father God, thank you for mercy and grace. Today I present those people who have knowingly or unknowingly opened themselves up to different spirits. I pray you reveal yourself to them, and show them their offenses. I pray their eyes be opened and their hearts be sorrowful to repentance. Give them the will to repent and renounce Lord, in the name of Jesus I pray Amen.

Devotional 6/21

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that wins souls is wise. Proverbs 11:30

You are a steward of every moment, of every talent, of every gift, of every resource that God has given you.
Chose wisely what you do today!
Paul Washer

The blueprint of God’s plan was first revealed through His prophets. From the beginning it was God’s plan that the world may be saved. Salvation came from the Jews but was not exclusively for them. As a peculiar people they were chosen to glorify God, in comparison to the great nations which surrounded them (Babylonia, Assyria, etc.).
  • All families of the earth were to be blessed through Abraham. (Gen. 12:1-3)
  • Gentiles will come to thy light. (Is. 60:3)
  • God will show mercy upon one who had not obtained mercy and will say to them which were not His people, “You are my people!’ and they shall say, ‘You are my God”. (Hos. 2:23)
Every Christ follower should bear the fruit of the Spirit; the bible says we will know them by their fruit. Jesus told the disciples, that they didn’t chose God- but that God chose them… to bear fruit! John 15:16 says, I have appointed you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. God gives us the anointing and the ability to be fruitful: evangelize, instruct others and build disciples.
The Lord has set us apart, as representatives, to do work in His Name, develop Godly character, and be His witnesses. Those that win souls are wise, lets be the Lord’s witnesses!
Let’s pray:
Father God, we thank you for choosing us and setting us apart for your glory. I pray you help us all to cultivate the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, and self-control. I pray you help us remove all false identifying markers set by this world from our minds, hearts and memories. I also ask you to help us bear fruits of repentance and good works. Thank you for a new nature Lord. In jesus name, Amen.

Devotional 6/19

My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt. Psalms‬ ‭71:24‬ ‭

Worship is an act of war against the enemy of our hearts.

Holley Gerth

Thank you Lord Jesus for your grace and wisdom. Thank you for being our great deliverer and our righteous father. Thank you for raising a standard when the enemy comes against our lives. Thank you for your word and the strategies you give us to defeat and overcome spiritual attacks.

I ask you to fill each of your sons and daughters with a spirit of praise and worship. May our lips continually sing you a new song. May our praise and worship confound the enemy of our souls.

I pray you fill our cups until we overflow, may you prepare a feast for us in the presence of our enemies. I present to you all those who are struggling with apathetic, inadequacy, fear, loneliness, depression and grief to receive strength to stand firm. May you visit those who are confused and those in need of direction, may you provide them clarity and wisdom. I pray for comfort and vigor for those who are hurting, and love for those who are broken-hearted. I pray for those who have been scarred, violated or abused and I ask you to heal their wounds and help them change the story they tell themselves. I ask you for discernment, may we make the right choices, and may you light a fire in those who are lukewarm.

I pray Lord Jesus for protection for all the children, hide them Lord; keep their comings and goings, and keep their hearts pure. I also pray for parents to receive finances, resources, wisdom, strategy and the fruit of your Spirit in order to raise healthy children. I pray for those couples who may need passion, understanding or strategies so that they can maintain a healthy home and a successful marriage. I pray you meet every person’s need Lord. In Jesus name, amen.
