Devotional 12/26

As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Romans‬ ‭10:11‬

Some people will not understand what the love of Christ compels you to do; do it anyway.

God calls each of us according to His own purposes, not because of goodness or how evil we were. The word says that He has mercy on whoever He wants to have mercy on, it’s a great mystery. We can’t figure God out, we must simply believe. This is why faith is so important!

The Lord is only pleased by faith, and because of our faith we yield to God’s Holy Spirit and His Word, which leads us to righteous living. As I thought of God’s goodness and sacrifice towards us, I was humbled to the fact that God calls us higher. It is by receiving His love, that we are compelled to live up to His call.

We can makes plans, because they prepare us for the future. Our plans should be flexible enough, to be changed or adjusted by the Lord. When we present them to the Lord we give Him the freedom to adjust the details or reroute us altogether. The Lord’s will can be similar to ours, or it could be completely different. But one thing is for sure, He gives us the ability and the love to do His will and to enjoy the journey.

The true issue with submitting our will to God, is whether we trust Him or not. He is kind to us if we trust in His kindness. But if we stop trusting Him, then He is just to judge us and even cut us off. God’s call is for those who answer: many are called, but few are chosen. And despite of the depth or length of time in relationship with Him: we can be cut off.

We received salvation by grace, we died in baptism to our old lives and we walk in His resurrection. Ultimately, we were given new lives to live. Will you accept God’s call? Will you accept His plan for your life, and set aside the details of your own will?

Let’s pray:

Father God today I pray according to Romans 15:13, I pray that you Lord, our source of hope, will fill each of us completely with joy and peace. May the trust we have in your be your open door to work your will into the details of our lives. I pray that we would overflow with confidence and hope in you, through the power of your Holy Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen.

He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord. Proverbs 18:22

You get in life, what you have the courage to ask for.

Oprah Winfrey

How do we know if God wants us to marry and how do we know who is the right person anyhow? We must be equally yoked… but that’s only one detail. We must use God’s revealed will to decide! God’s revealed will is the Word, the Bible, the Holy Scriptures.

Choosing to do our own will, ends up robbing us of our joy in the Lord. Although some are able to repent, and run for their lives not all, have the will to repent. We may lack the faith to believe that God’s will is good, pleasing and perfect and find ourselves in relationships, which God never intended for us.

Marrying an unbeliever is not biblical, so it is not God’s will for His children. But this is not all that the scriptures mean when they read, to not be unequally yoked. It is not God’s desire that we settle for any Christian person. Anybody can come to church, read the Bible and pray.

None of of us is perfect. We all need to develop godliness in our lives: you deserve somebody who commits to growing in godly character. The fruit of the Spirit is necessary for every one! We must all work on developing godly characteristics: love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, faith, kindness, and self control (Galatians 5:19-23).

A true disciple of Christ, and marriage material, is someone who is committed to Jesus Christ. Commitment to Christ is denial of the self, on a daily basis to obey His word. Someone who seeks God in prayer, submits His flesh and seeks to do God’s will (obeys the scriptures), is a good potential. If you are committed to developing yourself, and growing spiritually; you should surround yourself with others who partner with God to do the work of renewing their mind. Why would you settle for anything less?

Knowing God, and experiencing His love is the best comparison checklist to choosing a mate. If the person you are dating doesn’t treat you with respect, gentleness, unconditional love or demonstrate a sense of  humility when things get ugly between you two…. then they are not Christ like: don’t marry them. Companionship depends on liking someone: attraction and compatible personality. A person can be good looking, yet be codependent, violent or ego driven. Marriage does not fix loneliness, depression, anxiety, laziness, lust or arrogance. Many relationships are destroyed by unhealed wounds from childhood: codependency: name calling: blame: uncontrolled anger: violence: disrespect: bitterness: accusations: competition: and so much more!

This is relevant to all Christians, and all people who desire to be in a long lasting relationship: seek godliness.

Let’s pray:

Lord God, we thank you for being our ABBA, father. Thank you for being our teacher, our comforter and counselor. We ask you to continue working in us, and show us the things we need to change, the areas where we need to invite you, and those which we need to release. May we become the godly people you desire Lord. Thank you. In Jesus name, Amen.

Devotional 3/9

There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death. Proverbs 14:12

Human beings have a demonstrated talent for self- deception when their emotions are stirred.
Carl Sagan

I know that everyone these days is free to do as they please. free to abort unborn children, free to choose their spouses, and free to change their gender/sexual organs. Yes, we have free will but God’s will is perfect and pleasing. God assigned our sexual organs, even those who are androgynous types (hermaphrodites). We cannot push aside that sin has consequences as I discussed yesterday, and some possible reasons for birth defects are developmental issues, malnutrition, extreme levels of stress or sadness, hormonal imbalances, and spiritual things like works of witchcraft, voodoo or enchantments. We often open the door for the enemy, and then cry out to God when we realize he is making our life miserable. Image result for being gay is a sin

Many of us have daddy issues, and molestation issues which lead us into promiscuous and/or homosexual relationships. We may also be seduced, or stirred by the curiosity, our ambitions, rebellion and even searching for love. We have all experience some form of manipulation stemming from our souls, and the enemy plays with us like puppets. God is not pleased in homosexual lifestyles, or lifestyles entailing adultery or sex before marriage; even if you consider yourself a believer– God says we will not enter the kingdom of God, living these kind of lifestyles. It does not mean God loves us any less, or that He hates us: but He is Holy and uncleanliness nor darkness can enter into His Holy Kingdom. To be quite honest I ask myself often, if I would make it to heaven anyway. We are all sinners.

I’d like to share a post I wrote 4 years ago on Facebook:

You are not a boy, girl. You still have to sit down to pee, you have beautiful breast made to feed a newborn child. You are not a boy, you are a womb-man to hold that child you can only make with some sperm. No, you still cant produce sperm, maybe you can buy it and maybe even pretend as you strap it on. Yes, you are still a girl. As much as you hate to believe. I wish I could tell you “its true, you were made to be a boy”. But I won’t preach lies, and I won’t sell them, even though i know you will go to the ends of the world to buy them.

Maybe I introduced you into liking girls, maybe my imagination complemented yours. Maybe I applauded the inclinations to choose to be gay, kissing the boys and the girls. Yea, homosexuality. Maybe once I considered that we were born this way, or that we needed to rebel against the norms of this world. Or maybe I couldn’t come up with a better excuse to dumb down my desires to reenact the pornography and indulge in the fantasies I saw in my head, because you know why be who they want you to be? We were taught to be a certain way, why should we accept? So I said “try this, and break free”.

I’m sorry for being that one, and forgive me for feeding you additional lust. I’m sorry to be here tonight, being the one to tell you today that you really aren’t free. And since you’re halfway through reading this. I invite you to confide in me. It was our secret back then, I can still be loyal today. In confidence, climbing over the walls I have built I wanna be that water in the desert.

I’m sure it feels good, I’m sure you feel free, being different, acting nonchalant walking in the shadow of your purpose. Maybe you’ve been violated, disrespected, rejected by those who were supposed to love you. Maybe you’ve been dismissed. Maybe your body just likes the pleasure that you feel. But there’s a higher thrill. There’s a higher calling your soul wants to fill. Jesus is knocking at your door, is your heart open to let him be real?

Still I remind you, you don’t have to believe me, but I see it in your eyes, there’s a part of you, that is not completely convinced, with the imagination you perceive as real, I tell you that you can be free from the idea your mind is set to conceive. The image you want to portray, the life you try to breed. I’ve been called to set the captive free. He who the Son sets free is free, Indeed. God bless you.

Devotional 1/22

For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries. 1 Corinthians 16:9

Closed doors, rejections; they do not decide your fate they simply redirect your course. You must keep moving because life’s detours can also be meaningful.

As believers, we want to know God’s will for our lives, but we usually do not know all the details of God’s plan so we don’t know exactly which way to go. In life we will face times of need, desire, opportunity, and opposition. When we need something God says come to me in prayer, knock and the door will be opened. In other instances God humbled the people, forcing them to seek Him by closing the heavens so it did not rain for some time. If prepared for it, opportunities also come; if we are not prepared we will not be able to see opportunities for what they are. But what happens when we face oppositions like closed doors, delayed gratification and/ stagnation?

We know that our enemies are not humans, but spiritual ones. Some of the enemies that come against us are frustration, impatience, and desperation. They are very much alike, but they are also very different.Image result for I TRUST YOU gOD

  • Frustration: related to anger, annoyance and disappointment, frustration arises from the perceived resistance to the fulfillment of an individual’s will or goal and is likely to increase when a will or goal is denied or blocked. (Alan De Botton)
  • Impatience: not being able to endure; restless or short-tempered under delay or opposition, having or showing keen interest or intense desire and expectancy.

  • Desperation: a state of despair (hopelessness or loss of faith), typically one that results in rash or extreme behavior.

In the scriptures, king Saul made the mistake of forcing something- and super failed. Saul became impatient, frustrated and desperate, because his soldiers were not ready to fight the Philistines. King Saul waited and waited for the prophet Samuel to come but he didn’t, and his soldiers were ready to flee the battle! So Saul took matters into his own hands and offered sacrifices to God without Samuel. The right thing to do was to have waited for the prophet Samuel, and do things God’s way! Matters are made worse when we try to take things into our own hands. That’s not faith — and in James the bible says that whatever is not done in faith is sin.

God will frustrate our plans when they don’t line up with His will. When our plans fail, it is God saying: “Stop trying to make things happen for yourself, and just trust Me”. We don’t have to have it all together, God just needs us to have the correct disposition. This greatly depends on where we are emotionally or mentally. We spend way too much time trying to figure out life by ourselves! worrying, following our culture or family’s timelines, and even the dream sold on media (social media, TV, Movies, Radio, etc.). We don’t seek God about relationships, choice of career, study or job employment etc; because we assume those things are up to us to decide on.

God has you and me on a unique path, with a detailed designed and specifically tailored for us: God considers our personalities, our characteristics and even our preferences. So why do we allow thoughts to enter our minds, and lead our souls into the hands of our faith killing enemies? That is who frustration, impatience and desperation are, they are our enemies. God wants us to live in Hope, Love and Faith… the greatest of these is Love.

Let’s pray:

Lord God, God of power, God of mercy. You are Lord of all, Lord of the universe, God of the seen and unseen. You can do all things, and today I come before you to ask you to war against these enemies attacking many people this season. I ask that you heal our broken hearts and crushed spirits of any disappointments, from both the past and even today. I ask you to remove the heaviness within our hearts and noise in our minds that cause us to become anxious or restless. Father God, help us to rebuild a consistency for a life of prayer. I know that many of us have been waiting for changes, and as we wait let us be patient. Knowing that you will renew our strength. We will run and not be weary, even as we may feel there is so much to do. help us manage our time and our energy God. I plead the blood of Jesus against stress and frustration, and any attacks related to being overwhelmed. Lord Jesus, help those who have lost their way, who have lost their vision, even their understanding, or who have lost their identity and no longer know who they are: we turn to you for help. Maybe our life is not what we wanted it to be, or how we planned for it to be, but only you can redirect our steps. And I ask you to that for us today.  May we climb out of darkness, any form of darkness. In Jesus name, Amen.
