Devotional 2/22

You formed the way I think and feel. You put me together in my mother’s womb. Psalms‬ ‭139:13‬ ‭

But by the grace of God, I am what I am…

Have you ever stopped to think about how detailed God is? He is the creator of all things seen, and of what we don’t see. He created the earth, the moon and the stars. He created our physical attributes, and even designed our personalities.

In the KJV, the Psalm says that the Lord created and ‘possesses our reins’. In the Hebrews, this phrase is translated as kidneys; which was believed to be our center of emotions. And as we all know the soul, is the seat of the will, the thoughts and emotions. We are His beloved: we have been fearfully and wonderfully made. Identical twins look the same on the outside, but on the inside their personalities are different.

  • They are born in the same day, same time, share the same household, schools and so much more. But their dreams, ambitions, tempers, likes/dislikes, and so many other intricate details vary from each other.
  • Sometimes when I watch the news, hear stories or watch movies I get emotional- and some people may laugh at me. It doesn’t mean that any of us is wrong, we are simply different creatures. God gave each of us a different yet purpose-filled personality. If you stop to think about what makes you angry, or what is wrong in the world… it’s the very thing God is calling you to fix! Don’t be mad at yourself for being who you are. God doesn’t change our personality, He refines our character.
  • We deserve the best of the best, because God gave His life for you and for me. He called us on purpose, and knowing what He was getting into. For instance, God placed passions in our personalities: He’s also aware that we may misuse those passions. He gave others a laid back nature, and He is aware that these people may need extra attention or outside impulse to get going. He gave some creativity and imagination: knowing that we may need a coach or mentor to lead us in the right direction! Or maybe God gave some of us ambition: He knows we like nice things, and may need a financial coach to steward our money. There is nothing God is not aware of. He is sovereign! We are His creation. God created us with distinct personalities on purpose!
  • We are worthy in God’s eyes, worthy of His love and attention. He finds us worthy to receive His grace, favor and mercy. Even when we don’t feel good enough, righteous, beautiful, handsome or perfect! We were created as an extension of God’s glory.
  • You are worthy to be loved. You are enough and you are a display of God’s glory.
  • Let’s pray:

Thank you Lord Jesus for giving us your grace and glory. Thank you for giving us a Comforter until the end of our days. Thank you for never abandoning us or neglecting us. Thank you Almighty, Everlasting father that we are beautiful, there is no flaw in us. You word is alive, and I pray for a quickening in each of our spirits. Anybody that is stuck in their mistakes, in their sin, or even in a bad mood. May you quicken their spirits to know and receive your perfect love! In the name of Jesus, Amen.

    Devotional 3/7

This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel says: ” In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and confidence is your strength, but you would have none of it. Isaiah 30:15

For me, its not needing too many answers. I have accepted the fact that I use faith and spirituality for my purpose.
    Jason Isbell

Confidence in God, means His way not your way. And placing our confidence in God, gives us courage. A while ago, I began to lose my confidence in God. After being disappointment time and time again, I became disillusioned with God and life. All this did was make me frustrated, and discouraged. Frustration is when you feel hopeless, tired, and helpless about a situation you desire to change. Encourage means to empower, while discourage means to lose power. God gave us a spirit of love, power and self control: not a spirit of fear!

Confidence causes us to move in courage. This is why the Lord tells us throughout the scripture, to not fear. God is with us, and He fights for us. He told Joshua to make a decision, and to stick with it, BE STRONG AND OF GOOD COURAGE. Joshua had to choose courage over fear (SELF CONTROL). And God told him why he should live this way moving forward: GOD WAS AND WOULD BE WITH HIM ALL THE DAYS OF HIS LIFE (power of God and the love of God).

    courage:

    • Mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.
    • The quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear; bravery.
    • Have the courage of one’s convictions, to act in accordance with one’s beliefs, especially in spite of criticism.

    confidence:

    • The feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust.
    • Trust, belief, faith, credence, conviction
    • The state of feeling certain about the truth of something.
    • A feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities.

When we are courageous, we show God and the world what faith looks like. Knowing God is with us, allows us to walk through uncertainty, negativity and adversity. It makes a big difference when we receive the love of God, because love is power, love is trust, and love is faith. When we lose confidence in God, we invite confusion and discouragement. We begin to obsessing over things we want and desire, which then becomes an internal struggle against what God wants and is doing. And we lose trust in His love and sovereign power over all.

God has a plan, and most people confuse themselves by trying to be God Jr. They think they should help God, in His sovereign decision making and even in attaining things He has already predestined and pre-appointed. They offer more mercy than God does, and even try to out give God. God’s thoughts are greater than ours, and His ways are higher than the heavens. The Lord is aware of every detail and goes before us. Sometimes He fights for us, along side us or walks us through with direction, in each battle. Satan came to steal, kill n destroy. But God gives us life, not obsessive thoughts, not anxiety, not worry, nothing related to preoccupation. The spirit of God, gives us word, visions & promises, today I feel moved to remind you, take heart and get out of your head!

    Lets pray:

Lord Jesus may every word you’ve told us in secret, and declared over our lives, one by one, become reality. May you remove the lies we have come to believe, whether spoken by our flesh or our enemy Satan and his demons. You are not the author of confusion, but of order and peace. You are a God of love, not of obsession. You are the Most High, and All knowing God. May you test our hearts, and remove every seed that has not been planted by you. And Lord, I ask you to reveal to us the areas where we have lost faith and even the areas we have yet to give to you. Protect us by the mighty blood of Jesus against contrary prayers, in Jesus name, Amen.

And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Luke 10:18

Satan is a fallen foe and has always been subject to the authority of the Son of God.

God gave us desires, and He also looks to provide for them. Satan was kicked out of heaven, when he started speaking to the angels about taking over God’s throne. God kicked Satan, and 1/3 of angels hosts from heaven. That’s a lot of fallen angels. Don’t let Satan talk to you, and make you wonder and wander yourself away from God’s ways. God gave us a sound mind, a powerful mind of self control, and of creativity. The enemy knows how powerful our minds can be, if correctly used. And now, more recently research studies both in science and esoteric, have found our that the mind is extremely powerful. Have you acknowledged that your mind is powerful? Whether it is for good or for evil is really up to us, and how much self control we use. We can make decisions which appeal to please God or to please our own selfish desires. God does not have restrictions over us and our happiness, but He, as a father, sets boundaries for us in love. Holy Spirit leads us to make wise and godly decisions, but our flesh leads us to make self centered and self pleasing decisions.

Yesterday I mentioned that an idle (a wandering) mind, opens doors for the enemy.  For example, Eve, she fell for eating from the forbidden tree because it seemed okay to eat it, it was nice to look at and it would make her wiser. And the voice of the serpent was making her wonder about what God had already said. She let herself go into trouble, and away from God by her own desires. As human beings we have needs, and we also have desires: lets be honest. And then there’s Satan. We need food, but we desire tasty food. This is why there are fruits and vegetables all over the world, spices and seeds and animals of all kinds for us to enjoy. Yet there will be people, who will eat human flesh, and drink human blood. We enjoy beauty, yet this can easily become vanity or materialism. And if we value beauty, we are able to see the beauty in nature, find beauty in humanity and in art. Yet people become greedy and vain, becoming materialistic and coming into possession with anything and everything they consider beautiful. And we are also given wisdom, and seek wisdom; yet people do not go to God for wisdom.   I once heard a preacher say, God gave us our sexual drive- but He also wants us to manage it. And I think this is true, about EVERYTHING. The truth is that God’s Holy Spirit, teaches us to manage our fleshly appetites, and keep them under control and in balance. But since we are not prone to ask God for help, Satan corrupts our healthy and natural desires. For example, can a man and a woman procreate children? Yes. Can two men or two women make children by having sex? Nope. This is an example of God’s gifts and desires, being perverted by Satan. Another example, is gluttony. Do we not love food? Satan binds people’s minds to become gluttons. The devil LOVES IT when people make themselves slaves to a desire that God created and intended be enjoyed!

    Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus, I know that you are a God of order and of wisdom. I pray you give us all, desires that benefit us spiritually. Desires like reading your word, fasting, desires to forgive, desires to be sanctified and to spend time with you in prayer. I pray we many live a life of obedience and of balance with a heart focused on love. Please show us, areas of our lives where we may be allowing Satan to enter by our lack of balance and discipline. Examine our hearts, and help us to refocus on our callings and ministries, beginning with our families. Give us wisdom and discernment, against anything that could steal our time and attention, let us not be idle! Protect us from curiosity, and things which may cause us to wander away from you. Thank you for your presence and for the victory in every area of our lives. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
