Devotional 4/20

He saved us because of his mercy, not because of any good things we did. He saved us through the washing that made us new people. He saved us by making us new through the Holy Spirit. Titus‬ ‭3:5‬

If we function according to our ability alone, we get the glory; if we function according to the power of the Spirit within us, God gets the glory. He wants to reveal Himself to a watching world.

Henry Blackaby

Holy God, awesome, great and dreadful God; thank you for your grace and everlasting love. We would be lost without you. Thank you for being patient with us, and giving us your power and strength. We don’t deserve your goodness, yet you continue to shed your love on us.

Today we acknowledge that it is you, your Spirit within us causing us to do your will and that which pleases you. We ask for your consuming fire to detoxify and destroy any demonic strongholds in our minds and hearts. I pray your Holy Ghost fire would incinerate the things in the crevices of our souls which are not like you. We ask you Jesus, to renew a right spirit within us and give us the correct perspective for this season.

I also ask that you help each of us, to look more like you, to speak like you and to walk like you. I know we are missing the mark as the body of Christ, so I’m asking that you start with us. I pray you help us to bring a revival in our own lives, and rekindle a desire to seek you and love on you, more than to serve you.

May we gladly boast in the goodness of your love. May your Spirit find rest in our beings. I ask you for all these favors, in the matchless and incomparable name of Jesus. Amen.

Devotional 3/25

May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:23

Un-confessed sin is poison to the soul.
Craig Groeschel

We can proclaim that we are no longer slaves but do we really believe it? Once we come to Christ, we are made new. We are regenerated by the Spirit of God to become holy and Christ-like until the day we meet Jesus.

Man has a spirit, and has a body, but only when God breathed life into Adam did he become a living soul (Gen. 2:7). Our soul is our mind, will and emotions. And although we have been made free in the Spirit, the soul makes us prey to demons. We are targeted because of darkness in our souls.

Soul realm:

  • Our heart: deceiving, cannot be trusted and needs to be restored!
  • Our mind: must be renewed!
  • Our will: must be surrendered to God!

In Paul’s letters to the Corinthian church, he warned about carnality and worldliness. It seems that they still had some of the same friends, habits and customs from their life before Christ. They walked in envy, anger, strife, gossip and competition like the culture around them. It was obvious they needed healing and to be restored. The truth had not made them free, Christ had not filled their voids! Many of us, like the Corinthians, believe we’ve been changed by faith, but Paul challenges us: examine yourself- see if you are in the faith.

Like a child learning to walk, we pick and choose what we need to work on. We base it on logical perception, not the mind of God which is the Spirit of God. But as we mature in Christ, our desire to please God in Spirit and in Truth becomes larger than life. We examine our hearts and surrender our will to God. We drag sin and all darkness to God’s light. We release the weights of self hate, disappointment, comparison, thrill seeking, comforts, religiosity, etc.

  • Surrender your heart to God, He will restore you. , but He will be with us every part of the way!

    Let’s pray:

Father God, please forgive and deliver us Lord. We know you are merciful and forgiving, but we also recognize that you are saddened by our choices. We cannot do this without you God. I ask you to heal the part and fill the voids so that we no longer need externals to feel good or complete. We accept that we are guilty as charged, but may you have mercy and not allow that any of us be exposed or embarrassed; may you guard our testimonies as we surrender all these struggles at your feet. I pray for your mercy, your grace and power to deliver. I pray for the restoration of our inner being, our souls. In Jesus name, Amen.

    Devotional 3/10

The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him. Exodus‬ ‭15:2‬ ‭

I am a pilgrim in the world, but at home in my God. In the earth I wander, but in God I dwell in a quiet habitation.

    Charles Spurgeon

I love you Jesus. You are awesome God, you are ever present, all knowing, and you work all things for good. I am so grateful to have grown in you, and come to know your grace and mercy. I know that many people know you as creator God, and today I lift up all of my loved ones: may they know you as much more!

May your children focus on building a relationship with you God. I pray we all come out victorious from each of our trials. May there always be a praise on our lips, and a new song in our hearts. May we worship you in spirit and in truth. May our relationship with you, be unshakeable.

I ask you Lord to take off the masks we use to hide our pains and frustrations, and lead us into the secret place where we can worship and commune with you alone. May we live transparent lives, and give others the freedom to do the same. I pray for the church of Christ to be intimate with You! We do not want any more singers or performers in church! We don’t want to judge by appearance or by status or position. May you cause a revival in our private lives, so that we can walk in anointing and power in public.

I also ask you Lord for those who are disappointed, May you heal their hearts and open their minds to know what changes to make and how to address their spiritual condition. I thank you for your Holy Spirit. May everyone know you Lord God, may you become their best friend.

I pray for those people who do not yet know you, may we be channels and instruments in your hands to bring them closer to you. May we speak what you speak, may we hear your voice, and may we do what you would do. I ask you for the grace we need as we are pruned and crushed for your anointing. May our worship be more than a gift or talent. Serving you God is more than a title or a gift, it is a privilege and the best experience here in earth.

Thank you for affirming our identity. Thank you for direction, encouragement, faith, joy, and the hope you give us on a day to day basis. May your holy presence find a home in us and our lives. And finally Jesus, I ask you for conviction, courage and boldness to do what You’ve called us to do. I ask for all of this in Jesus name, Amen!

    Devotional 2/9

Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53:1‬ ‭

He sees, He hears and He will deliver.

Father God, I come before before your throne of mercy to ask your grace. We need your strength and a fresh touch to get back on track again. I present all my brothers and sisters, who may be in need of a touch, a word, a healing, a boost, or a hug God. Only you know how to meet our very exact needs. You are He, Elohim, the creator of all things seen and unseen; and only you know what is on our minds and in our hearts.

Your Word says the joy of the Lord is our strength, and in your presence there is fullness of joy. So I stand in the gap to ask you for help, if there is any who need the will, the desire or motivation to seek your presence. I pray for those who need emotional healing, and ask you to be their balm of Gilead Lord. I pray for those who are hungry and needy, who need your provision. And for those who are physically hurting from illness, pain or disease: bring deliverance into their bodies Lord. We need your joy to replace all the tired and sick parts of our minds, bodies, and souls.

I present to you each of our mouths Lord Jesus. May we speak like over ourselves. May we use empowering words and power thoughts when speak to others, and even to ourselves. I plead the blood of Jesus over ourselves and against demonic forces oppressing your people God. May you revert any curses which we have declared over ourselves, agreements and vows we’ve made in the Spirit, because of our reckless mouths.

Your arm has not been cut off and You are mighty to save! You have saved us, we are being saved and we will be saved. So I thank you for the liberations you will do in this season!

We trust you God. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

    Devotional 2/5

Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.” Genesis 22:12

Never take your obedience as the reason God blesses you; obedience is the outcome of being rightly related to God.

    Oswald Chambers

A man in a plane flying above a town has a better perspective on the town than a man walking on the street. If you had to choose one of them to guide you, who would you choose? We are like the man on the street, only seeing and understanding our immediate surroundings. God, like the man in the plane, sees more and He sees the curves ahead: He sees the big picture! As the Creator of all, He has complete and infinite understanding of every intricate person and corner of the world. God knows each detail of our lives, even while we feel frustrated with what seems like no progress or like any changes are in the loom.

We are able to accomplish many things in our human strength and His permissible will, but when we fear God, we walk in wisdom and obedience. God will test us to see if we truly fear Him, and if our faith is placed in Him. To fear God:

    • is to have high esteem and respect for God
    • to be conscious of God’s judgment

Holy Spirit is necessary in the life of the believer. He is the power of God who causes us to trust God, to repent from our evil ways, to love others, to believe and so much more. The power of God convicts us, which enables us to obey God’s word: like Abraham. God desires a daily relationship with us, and Holy Spirit helps us maintain and deepen our relationship with Him. We need the power of God in our lives, not only to heal, and cast out demons but to live obedient lives. After all, it is Holy Spirit who draws us into alignment with God’s will.  The word of God is the Lord’s revealed will, similar to God directing Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac. If we follow His will we are blessed, highly favored and taken care of: like Abraham. Abraham obeyed and God blessed His obedience, it was not God’s will for Abraham to sacrifice Isaac: it was a test.

Our own strength is limited. If we rely on our own point of view, we are certain to make wrong turns. Imagine if Abraham had relied on logic, his feelings or even his own personal wisdom: he was  bound to fail God and forfeit His blessings. We have the choice of relying on our own instincts and wisdom or we relying on God for direction. Depending on ourselves diverts us from God’s plans, and corrupts us spiritually, mentally and emotionally. Simple things become harder to do because God will block and frustrate our plans. Disobedience takes us out of alignment with God. The aftermath of disobedience is ugly: guilt, condemnation, spiritual death and blindness, etc. But God, our Father, does not withhold His goodness from us. His grace and faithfulness pursues us, just like He pursued Israel. And even if we lose our way, the Holy Spirit helps us return to God and stay in God. God’s mercy will even bless us after disobedience, depending on the condition of our heart towards Him.

People are strengthened by the fruit of your obedience. They are blessed to hear of your testimony and process, but they are empowered when you share how God intervened. Let God shift your puzzle pieces around, be obedient and reap the blessings!

    Let’s pray:

Father God, Most High God today I ask for deeper convictions, and a greater confidence in you. Fill us up God, help us to be obedient to your written word and to your spoken word. In Jesus name.

    Devotional 2/4

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew‬ ‭6:33‬ ‭

The kingdom of God is within you…

    find it.

In a sense, the Lord was telling the disciples that they were different than unbelievers. He tells His disciples to not worry about their basic survival needs, but to worry about God’s kingdom and His righteousness.

The world worries about their basic needs, but as God’s kingdom seekers we don’t need to worry about the bills, the rent, the clothing nor the food we will eat. It’s true that unbelievers are able to reap and sow. Hard work, dedication and self discipline pay off with God and without God. Many of them are financially stable, and well sustained by their own human strength. Yet they worry themselves to death, literally.

    • The Lord does not want us to worry about our needs being met.
    • Seeking God’s kingdom and righteousness, equals the provision of God in our lives.

The kingdom of God is when God’s power interrupts people’s soul cycles and ordinary lives. Jesus says, if I cast out demons by the power of God- then the kingdom of God has come unto you. God wants us to seek this power which can only be attained by seeking Him! We need the power of God to cast demons out of people’s lives or off their bodies! Apart from God, we cannot bring His kingdom to others and we should worry about that! And only by seeking God will we have the unction to use discernment, gifts of knowledge, gifts of healing or any of the gifts to radically change people’s lives.

Apart from God we can do nothing, at least not His will. Doing what is right in God’s standard is righteousness, and obedience to His written will is what we should diligently pursue. When we take care of God’s business, He will take care of ours!

  • Let’s pray:
  • Lord Jesus, thank you for your power and your witness. Thank you for your strength and love. May we search and chase after your kingdom and righteousness. May we be approved stewards of your glory and power. I ask you for increased faith, and wisdom. And for those who are struggling, I ask you to give them a praying Spirit Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
